Weaving Excellence with Innovation

About Our Phifer

The Phifer Tradition

In 1952 J. Reese Phifer established Phifer Incorporated in Tuscaloosa, Ala. (USA) as a weaver of aluminum insect screening. Today, the company is the world’s largest producer of aluminum and fiberglass insect screening products. When Phifer began production in 1952, the two main goals were to excel in quality and in service. Phifer has kept this commitment to our customers for more than six decades and remains dedicated to continuing to provide quality products and quality service for years to come.

Today

Phifer Incorporated continues to lead and diversify in the insect screen, solar control fabrics, drawn wire, engineered products and designed fabrics industries.

Our mission is to be a strong world-class competitor by building excellent quality into our workplace, products, and services. This is essential for the success of our employees, customers, suppliers, company, and community. We will work with our suppliers and customers to provide products and services that meet or exceed expectations.

Phifer will commit resources, provide training, and develop communications to create an environment in which each individual can contribute skills, talents, and ideas to a never-ending process of improvement, problem solving, and innovation in all aspects of our business.

Primary manufacturing and corporate offices are located in our state-of-the-art facilities in Tuscaloosa, Alabama U.S.A. Additional warehouse, production or subsidiary operations are in Fayette, Alabama, California, Italy, India (www.phiferindia.com) and Asia. Phifer exports all products worldwide and has a full international sales and traffic staff. Phifer Incorporated is ISO registered and is an equal opportunity employer. In the manufacture and distribution of its products, Phifer complies with all applicable local, state, federal and international laws and regulations. Phifer’s specific policies are included here.

Phifer Incorporated complies with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, also referred to as the Conflict Minerals Rule. This requires manufacturers and suppliers to disclose whether their products contain gold, tin, tantalum or tungsten regardless of where they are sourced. Phifer is committed to complying with this directive, the aim of which is to stop funding of violent conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and surrounding countries. Phifer uses none of the minerals mentioned above in the production of its products.

Product development

Research and product development have been the lifeblood of Phifer’s growth since shortly after the company began in 1952. When air conditioning began replacing breezes through screened windows in most homes, the need for a screen to control heat gain at the window became an opportunity. Phifer developed both aluminum and, later, fiberglass SunScreen meshes which, fortunately, proved to be the company’s entrance into the sun control products market. We invite you to browse the many exterior and interior sun control products that are offered today as a result of these initial developments.
